Mission and Purpose of the Commission
Mission Statement
To bring together families, providers, businesses, and policymakers, and develop a report for how Manchester can continue to thrive, with every family having access to affordable, high-quality child care, and every provider having the supports necessary to succeed.
Purpose
- Build partnerships with key stakeholders within the City of Manchester to strengthen Manchester’s early childhood system and reduce barriers for child care providers and families.
- Advance equity and opportunities for the early childhood workforce to access business and professional development supports.
- Increase supply and accessibility to high-quality early childhood opportunities to support workforce participation and community development.
- Provide clear recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on policy, funding, and infrastructure investments.
- Align with broader goals, such as third-grade reading proficiency, family engagement, and business involvement.
Commission Member Roles and Responsibilities
Manchester Child Care Advisory Commission Members take on the following roles and responsibilities:
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings (monthly)
- Review relevant research and materials
- Provide expertise and recommendations
- Collaborate with fellow members
- Support drafting of the final recommendations report
Term: Upon acceptance → December 31, 2026
